Strategic Relocation

We helped a college strategically relocate its campus.

Challenge:
The College was located on a beautiful 40 acre campus in a suburban area. In recent years, declining enrollment had a significant impact on the College’s operating revenues. The organization determined that it needed to downsize its facility and wanted to relocate to a more urban environment. But before they could actively seek a new site, they needed to sell their existing campus and develop a plan that engaged all stakeholders.

Effort:
Clearpath was engaged to facilitate the College’s visioning process to establish the criteria and strategic leverages for a new campus. Clearpath assisted the College in identifying the appropriate constituents (professors, executives, board members, students, staff, etc.) to be included in the planning and decision making processes. They then collaboratively developed a series of materials that described what was important and what criteria would be used for decisions, future campus designs and communications going forward.

Result:
The College acquired a building in a nearby central business district that satisfied its needs and provides future expansion capabilities. They were able to relocate to the new facility for the 2008 – 2009 academic year, one year ahead of its original schedule.
